BIG BANKS: THEIR CHIEF EXECUTIVES, BRANCHES AND FOREIGN PARTNERS

The information in this table by the Economic Confidential is extracted from the 2006 Annual report of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), which was officially released in August 2007 and obtained by the magazine. It shows that out of the 25 big banks operating in the country only 13 have foreign partners to manage the Foreign Reserve; 3 accounting firms have been the major auditors of the banks. It also indicates that BIG does not necessarily represent the number of branches as some of the banks had, as at December 31, 2006, less than eight branch-offices each while two banks have more than 400 branch –networks each. Please see the table.
