FACTS AND FIGURES
Federation Account: June 2009
Gross Summary of Statutory Revenue and VAT
The Sharing of N313bn in June 2009: Akwa Ibom Still Richer, Cross
River Rating Improves Marginally
The Federation Account Allocation Committee at its meeting in June
2009 disburses N313bn to the tiers of government against N230 shared
in the previous month. This is apart from additional disbursement of
N33bn from Excess Crude Account being difference between Budget and
Actual.
For the third time this year, the Economic Confidential reveals that
Akwa Ibom is still the highest recipient from the Federation Account
Allocation in June 2009 receiving a total sum of N11.27bn (against
N8.3bn in May) followed by Rivers State which received N10.96bn
(against N8.05bn in the previous month), Delta N10bn (against N7.4bn
in the previous month), Lagos N10.8bn (against N6.7bn in the
previous month) and Kano N6.8bn (against N5.18bn in the previous
month). The former oil-producing Cross River state which received
N3.4bn (against N2.088bn in May) has it ranking improved from 31st
position in May2009 to 26th position in June beating,
this time, states like Zamfara, Yobe, Jigawa, Enugu and Sokoto who
received higher in the previous month. The lowest recipients in June
include Gombe N2.8bn (against N2.12bn in May), Nasarawa N2.7bn
(against N2.081bn in May), Ebonyi N2.72bn (against N2.04bn in May)
and Ekiti N2.87bn (against N2.20bn in May 2009).
In the findings of the Economic Confidential the figures are total
net allocations from the Statutory and VAT proceeds to the states
and their local government councils. The Economic Confidential can
also confirm other disbursements in June 2009: Federal N124bn
(against N95bn in previous month), FCT Councils N736 (against
N749million in previous month), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS)
1.43bn (against N1.54bn in previous month), and Federal Inland
Revenue Service (FIRS) N3.45bn (against N2.69bn in previous month).
